Poseidon was founded by Sam Houston to support his work as a freelance consultant which began in October 2014. Sam is a dual qualified, land engineering and hydrographic surveyor and is uniquely placed to service the hydrographic and spatial sciences community. He has a demonstrated history with managing medium to large scale projects involving a wide variety of hydrographic and oceanographic disciplines and has been active in the spatial industry since 2006.

Keeping a firm eye on operational safety and successful project delivery, Sam offers strong technical knowledge and considerable experience in managing the client and contractor interface. He has been lucky to represent various clients on projects all over the world including Australia, South Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Sam is a registered hydrographic specialist (AHSCP1) which is the highest level of professional certification (IHO CAT A). This certification is awarded by the Australian Hydrographic Certification Panel (SSSI) and endorsed by the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) in line with International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) standards and practices. Sam is also a committee member and regional representative to the SSSI Hydrography Commission.
